Quadriceps injuries tend to occour in patients:
      • Over 40's
      • Obesity
      •Chronic illness
      •Knee implant surgery
      •Steroid use
Considerably less common that patellar tendon disease
Considerable variation is present at its insertion normally
High signal streaks frequently seen in asymptomatic individuals
Should not be over diagnosed as tendinopathy
US has some advantages in demonstrating Doppler signal in true abnormal cases
QUADRICEPS RUPTURE
can involve any of the 3 components of the quadriceps insertion so
All 3 must be examined carefully
The US squeeze test is useful, squeezing the knee joints pushes effusion into the extraarticular tissues confirming that a defect is present
